Who is Lennie the Leek?

Lennie the Leek

Lennie the Leek was originally created by Ben Lewis, a year 5 pupil from Hook CP school. Pembrokeshire County Council catering team ran a competition to find a friendly, cartoon style character that could make healthy eating fun, exciting and enjoyable. Ben was the winner of the competition with his character vegetable – Lennie.

Pupils from Tenby Junior school and St Marks VA school, Haverfordwest, have also helped to bring Lennie the Leek to life. Their Ben Lewis With His Biketask was to refresh the original version of Lennie and give him a modern and versatile look, that would appeal to other children right across Pembrokeshire.

Lennie the Leek is now the official school meals mascot, and it’s his job to encourage pupils in a fun way to eat a healthy, well balanced school lunch.
